The Five Love Languages for Singles
By Gary Chapman

In his newest release, The Five Languages of Love for Singles, multi-million selling author Gary Chapman, PhD shares his proven principles of expressing and receiving unconditional love with our nation’s fastest growing demographic group, single adults. Anyone in a relationship may benefit from Chapman’s practical wisdom and tried and true maxims.

Backed by 30 years of clinical research, Chapman has defined five basic languages of love: Words of affirmation, gifts, acts of service, quality time and physical touch.

As Chapman explains, each of us speaks our own “primary love language” and we use it to express our love to others. But if the person on the receiving end speaks a different love language, clear communication cannot take place.

For example, if a man whose dialect is “words of affirmation” constantly tells his girlfriend he loves her, she probably won’t get the message if her language is “acts of service.” Instead, she’d prefer him to wash the dishes, mow the lawn, or help balance her checkbook. In her native tongue, that’s the love she understands.

States Chapman, “Learning to speak love and appreciation in a language the other person can receive is the key to enhancing all human relationships. Married or single, young or old, every human has the emotional need to feel loved.”

Chapman illustrates his fundamental principles with stories of real-life relationships. He takes the reader on a journey of exploration and discovery that demonstrates how individuals have tapped into his powerful insights to foster and enrich relationships at all levels. To further educate the single reader, Chapman includes thirty “profile” statements that help each individual define his her own love language.

Gary Chapman is a renowned marriage counselor and director of marriage seminars. He also serves as senior associate pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. His premier book in the series, The Five Languages of Love, has topped the Publisher’s Weekly bestsellers chart for 10 years, and has sold more than two million copies. Chapman is the host of a nationally syndicated radio program, “A growing Marriage.” He is a frequent guest on national television and radio shows.
